For each album, both would be the same Steven Wilson 5.1 mix. I did rip both versions for all the Yes Blu-rays, just so I wouldn't have to reference / re-rip the original discs again for any reason, but I have yet to do a formal listening test between them (I suspect no differences I don't listen to the surround material often). There is only one surround mix IIRC and I suspect I ripped the PCM versions.Ĭlick to expand. For the Yes Blu-ray discs, most of them do have both LPCM and DTS-HD MA encodings for the 5.1 mixes, including Fragile. I can’t remember whether all were in both PCM and DTS HD MA, but I only kept one version of each mix when I ripped it. The FLAC file derived from the DTS HD MA soundtrack will not contain any specific DTS HD MA features, and, assuming that the PCM and DTS HD MA soundtracks were the same mix, should be identical.Įdit: I have the Yes Fragile BD and it has several different stereo mixes original mix, Steven Wilson mix, needle drop as well as the 5.1. While the disc authors could have used different mixes for the PCM and DTS HD MA soundtracks, this isn’t usual, and they are probably exactly the same mix.ĭVD Audio Extractor can extract PCM and can decode and extract DTS HD MA from a disc / disc image or files, and then save them as a FLAC file. The DTS HD MA versions contain 1) a lossless compressed version that will decode to PCM, and a lossy version (DTS core), that is compatible with older decoders that can only handle “old” DTS.
